Inside the House
While the exterior of the house was being transformed, so was the interior. There weren’t as many slides of the inside, but a few survived the years. Come on in…

No petting zoo. No bounce house. Just cake, party hats, and maybe some soda. And we were thrilled.

Mid-Century Modern (Whether We Knew It or Not)
Sometime in the 1960s, wall-to-wall carpeting was installed—right over the hardwood floors.
Decades later, when my dad finally replaced it, the salesman took one look and said, “Oh yeah, I know that line. Indestructible.”
Not a word about it being attractive.
The Bathroom Situation
Before a half bath was added in the basement in the late ’60s or early ’70s, we had just one full bathroom on the main floor.
It was a small house, but I don’t remember it feeling small. We were always outside—rain, snow, or sunshine—so tight quarters rarely felt tight.
My mother might have had a different opinion.
